All the students of VIT University have a provision to check their Semester Attendance by Online. The Institute monitors the progress of the students at a closer level by a scheme called Proctor Scheme. Under this scheme about 20 to 25 students are assigned to a faculty who will maintain a record of the academic progress (Proctor Diary) of the students and provide guidance and counselling. Also email accounts for students have been created and hosted with Google.
In this present days so many issues and problems, everyone has difficulties that they face in life. People between the ages of 18 and 25 face problems which they think are permanent in their lives and get upset and sometimes depressed too! They do not have enough experience in life to think and calmly take those situations and respond to them. Some take these situations very seriously and even indulge in self-harming behaviours. To help such people who face various problems from simple depression to more serious issues like Paranoia and Schizophernia, OCD and several other issues, including Alcohol and Drug issues, we have three qualified full-time counsellors and a part-time Psychiatrist.
Due to the fact that the above mentioned issues and problems are common in almost all campuses, the UGC - University Grants Commission has mandated that all professional college campuses should have counsellors and if possible counsellors trained in the up-coming issues of Alcohol and Drugs, are more beneficial.
